‘Status: Woe’

My face hurts from smiling

My tongue hurts from lying

My eyes hurt from crying

My hands hurt from trying

My ears hurt from listening

My brain hurts from thinking

My liver hurts from drinking

My heart hurts from sinking

My feet hurt from running

My knees hurt from jerking

My soul hurts from working

My pride hurts from lurking

My conscience hurts from telling

My moods hurt from swinging

My throat hurts from singing

My nose hurts from minging…still, you’ve got to laugh!

Top 10 pre-teen crushes

I posted this on my old blog 4 years ago and decided I’d like to share it with you guys. I still stand by the choices and would also like to add that stylistically these ladies have all influenced me in some form or another too!

Chairman Cow

This idea came to me the other week, at first hypothetical but then an actual scribbled list of ladies who turned my head before I knew what that sort of thing was really all about.

10. Phoebe Cates – Especially in ‘Gremlins’ where I think it’s fair to say she’s as cute as a squirrel’s nut!

9. Sophie Aldred – ‘Ace’ in Doctor Who, a great role model for young girls and boys at the time (hitting Daleks with baseball bats and blowing stuff up in general).

8. Colleen Camp – Pretty much just for ‘Clue’ I’m afraid, possibly the first time I seen a french maid, and I liked it I have to say.

7. Ally Sheedy – I thought she was lovely in ‘Short Circuit’ and I’m ashamed to say it’s only recently I’ve seen some of her other films from the period.

6. Lea Thompson – If…

YouTube Music’s New Silent Ad Speaks Volumes for the Transgender and Crossdressing Community

I’ve been neglecting my fellow bloggers in recent weeks, getting trickier to juggle all my social media. This brilliant article was brought to my attention this morning and I felt compelled to share it. I’m not much of a streamer – I still make mixtapes believe it or not!? So I would never have seen this particular advert 🙂

I tend to watch comedies because there’s already a substantial amount of drama and action in my life and I desperately need the comedy to round it out. My husband likes history too, so we’ve been watching this ridiculous comedy on Hulu called Quickdraw. Despite paying actual currency for a Hulu Plus membership, you’re still subjected to watching a slew of ads – usually 3 at a time. I typically spend that time wondering what the heck I’m really paying for anyway.

Selfie Song

A couple of years back I wrote a song called ‘Selfie Song’ that I buried on one of my many albums. It was a topical song at the time and I guess it still kind of is. Months later I made a video that perhaps a few folk seen, made completely with photographs – the vast majority of them were selfies. Taken for the purpose of making the video you understand. I didn’t enjoy doing it honest! I thought you may possibly appreciate it and be warned it may get stuck in your head if you’re not careful.

I also decided to reprint the lyrics for your perusal as well 🙂

Selfie Song

I take the same picture again and again
It’s still not improving
I take the same picture ‘cause I feel the same
I’m still not moving
On every mobile a selfie, mobile a selfie
Mobile a selfie – who?
On every mobile a selfie, mobile a selfie
Mobile a selfie – you!

Am I somehow immune to this obsession with myself?
Time will tell
Do it again – Do it again

I take the same picture a million times
I’ll make it an art form
I share the same picture when I go online
And nobody’s liked it yet
On every mobile a selfie, mobile a selfie
Mobile a selfie – who?
On every mobile a selfie, mobile a selfie
Mobile a selfie – you!

Am I losing my touch or am I caring too much?
It can’t be helped – I blame myself
Do it again – Do it again

Face to face with your fears
At the mercy of your peers

If you enjoyed that you may possibly like the full album it was hidden on. I called it ‘Mind Palace’ and I brought it out at the start of 2014. There’s also a song about crossdressing on it called ‘All Dressed Up and Nowhere To Go’ which I talked about in a previous article A Wig and a Song. Here is a handy link to the full album.

One Lovely Blog Award

Goodness me – I got my first blog award today! It’s from from and if you haven’t been there you should check it out. A variety of sage advice and great ideas. Plus they definitely live up to their name! Cheers A Kinder Way 🙂

I’m going to take this opportunity to formally introduce you to some of the blogs I follow and maybe we could all get to know each other a bit better.

These are the specific rules you must follow…

  1. Thank the person that nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  2. List the rules.
  3. Display the award on your post.
  4. List seven facts about yourself.
  5. Nominate (up to) 15 bloggers for this award and comment on one of their posts to let them know you have nominated them.

That doesn’t sound too bad does it?

In that case here are 7 fairly random and at times rather candid facts about me;

  1. I broke my collar bone when I was 14 and as a consequence I’m unable to sleep on my right hand side. No spooning 😦
  2. I don’t enjoy watching sport on the T.V. of any description
  3. I can’t dance but would love to learn to move about properly one day
  4. I love roaming around old derelict, abandoned or condemned buildings
  5. I tried to hang myself when I was 11 or 12 around the time that my parents split up
  6. I still regret my last purge in which I lost my favourite auburn wig
  7. I’m absolutely obsessed with all things ‘Doctor Who’, in fact I love it so much that picking a favourite Doctor is very difficult indeed (though if you prodded me I’d most likely say Patrick Troughton)

I hope that wasn’t too boring, I did spend a while actually getting it down to 7 things. Twas tricky! I would now like to lead you to a list of the 15 blogs that I nominate for a Lovely Blog Award. These are some of the ones I frequent and if you haven’t heard of them you could definitely give them a bash!

Many apologies if I have (and I know I will have) left anyone out. I can assure you it wasn’t intentional but getting it down to 15 was damned difficult. Keep a wee eye out for my next post which was most certainly about my foray into cabaret this coming Friday – eek!
